Hi Quilty People!

I am so excited to share this great news with you!

Sunshowers Quilt A Long

Sunshowers Quilt-A-Long Partner

As part of the Longarm League, I’m partnering with Megan Collins for her Sunshowers Quilt-A-Long by providing free batting to everyone who sends me a Sunshowers Quilt. Cool, Right?! Quilters love free stuff.

This rainbow quilt is totally adorable and is a perfect place to start if you’re just learning how to sew curved piecing. Megan has even provided a free tutorial on her website to help you get started.

These are good sized rainbow blocks at 25” x 15.5” which will really show off your beautiful fabric stash. The pattern includes several lay out options, and sizes ranging from mini to XL throw.

I thought I would provide some suggestions for possible E2E quilting of the XL throw pictured in the pattern.

A Dozen Different Ways to Quilt Your Sunshowers Quilt

Everyone has a different vision for their quilt. I’ve tried to cover a wide range of options and had to force myself to narrow it down to just ten. Even then, I couldn’t do it and selected twelve different ways to quilt your Sunshowers Quilt. You’ll find themed patterns, textured patterns, repetitive patterns, patterns with vertical motion, patterns with left-right motion, and patterns with all over motion.

  1. Ginger Snap – Ginger Snap pantograph is a fan favorite because it has just the right mix of loops and circles.  It provides whimsy without over powering the quilt top pattern.

2.   Calm Water – This E2E shows just what the name implies, Calm Water.  It feels like modern straight line quilting, but has a hint of curves.  It’s very soothing.

3.  Wavy Raindrops – Rainbows come after the rain, right?  With Wavy Raindrops pantograph, the evenly spaced raindrops on vertical lines add great interest to the quilt top and stay on theme.

4.  Marmalade – Sweet and sassy is what I think of when I use the Marmalade pantograph.  It’s very versatile and looks great at a number of different densities.

5.  Cosmos –  Imagine rain falling in puddles and creating ripples, and Cosmos pantograph is the perfect match.  Its even spacing creates amazing texture across the quilt.

6. 60s Mod Butterfly – This design is just funky fun. The 60s Mod pantograph draws the eye down with the vertical lines.

7.  Abracadabra – Check out these evenly spaced curls as they swirl around your quilt. It’s easy to see how the Abracadabra pantograph adds motion to the quilt.

8.  West Wind – If you want to amp up the swirls and motion even more, think about choosing West Wind pantograph. This one makes me think of a blustery spring day.

9. Wishbone – Another versatile E2E is Wishbone with just the right mix of curves and angled lines in repetition. It adds a very contemporary look to any quilt.

10. Rainbow Clouds – I like the way Rainbow Clouds pantograph adds a lofty feel to the rainbows. And when washed, those cloud pockets are going to pucker into quilty goodness.

11. Lite Hearted – Not to be outdone, Lite Hearted pantograph adds a bit of airy whimsy with hearts floating in the clouds.

12.  Sun Scallops – I like the idea of the sun peeking out after the rain to create rainbows.  This Sun Scallops pantograph has a good mix of curves and points which cause the viewer to lean in for a closer look.

Any of these pantograph quilting designs will look beautiful on your quilt top. However, if you made it to the bottom of this post and still haven’t found what you’re looking for, I get it. Let’s work together to put your vision into words so we can translate that into an E2E design that embodies your vision.

And if you made it to the bottom of this post, looking for a specific pattern that you’re just dying to use, that’s amazing! I love it when people know just what they want. I’ll purchase the pattern and have your quilt stitched up in no time.
